The hibiscus are superb and the use of them in creating hedges that will flower all summer long is a good innovation that could well be useful in the UK.
I guess everyone thinks of the Bird of Paradise flower as an exotic but put it in drifts and massed beds and it becomes a magnificent focal point in any sheltered garden - as long as there is plenty of sun.
Palm trees slice the sky into separate panoramas of interest, each with a smaller high spot. Rosettes of succulents, when massed can also enhance and magnify their individual peculiarities.
